The Next New Thing

I think the next type of New Media will help people make choices. Bing is already functioning on this platform becasue it is telling its customers that it helps sort out through all of the information and choose the best results. This is the future of New Media becasue there is just so much information out there that people are getting tired of sifting through everything and companies are paying in order to be in the front so it makes information very bias. The New Media will help people decide on purchasing decisions, career decisions, entertainment decisions. People will have to fill out an extensive profile in order for the New Media service to know who you are but in the end they will be able to help you make decision!

  1. I think from a psychological standpoint that is a really interesting idea. People always struggle to make decisions and always want other people to make decisions for them. But I don't think that when it came down to it people would be comfortable putting their decisions and in a sense their lives in the hands of a computer, I think it is against human nature. Although their is certainly that desire for decisions to be made so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

  2. That's a really good idea. Our culture is becoming faster and faster, so if we're not pleased quickly we simply leave. I haven't used bing before but after hearing that it sorts out the search results I'm definitely going to give it a shot!

  3. I agree that it's a great idea.. but at the same time why do we need to have a 'computer' to choose for us? tell us what we like or don't like? That scares me a little.. that soon we will not even have to leave for work, school, store.. everything will be done for us.. Scary.. don't you think?

  4. I agree with the previous comment, I like to use computers to help me out, but making decisions is something I'll leave to myself. It's good though to have resources such as Bing, Google, etc. to help us out with everyday decision making.
